Adoption Process

At Posh Doodles, every adoption is handled with care and intention. We take time to understand each family so we can make the best possible match for both puppy and home.

1. Getting Started

Before you apply, we encourage you to take time to read through our website. We want every family to feel fully confident and informed before moving forward. If you have any questions at all, please reach out. We’re always happy to help.

2. Submit an Application

Submit your Puppy Application to help us learn about your family, lifestyle, and what you’re hoping for in a puppy. Applications are reviewed carefully, and approved families are invited to join our Priority List. The application also allows you to share your preferred method of communication (whether by email or text) so we can reach you in the way that’s most convenient for you.

3. Join the Priority List

Once approved, you may choose to join our Priority List with a small $100 deposit. This fee is non-refundable, but it's applied toward your total adoption fee when you move forward with a puppy.

We kindly ask that if your plans change or you find a puppy elsewhere, please let us know so we can keep our list current and extend openings to other waiting families.

4. Litter Announcements & Interest Confirmation

When a new litter is born, we will contact all families on our Priority List with photos, pairing details, and expected go-home dates.

If you are interested in that litter, simply reply to let us know. Families who respond are added to that litter’s list in the order their approved application was received.

We ask that you keep an eye on your inbox or messages during this time and reply promptly (within 48 hours). This helps us keep things organized and ensures your place in line is reserved correctly.

5. Selecting Your Puppy (4 Weeks Old)

At around 4 weeks old, families will begin choosing their puppy in the order of their place on that litter's list. By this age, we have had time to observe early temperament and development, and will share updated photos, notes, and guidance to help each family find their best match.

Once you’ve selected your puppy, you’ll sign our Purchase Agreement and submit a $900 deposit to officially reserve your chosen puppy. This fee is non-refundable and is applied toward your total adoption fee. After this step, your puppy is held exclusively for you until Go-Home Day.

If you decide to pass on a puppy from the litter, that’s perfectly fine. You will remain on our Priority List and can wait for a future pairing that feels like the right fit.

6. Travel Plans & Watching Your Puppy Grow

After you’ve selected your puppy, expect weekly photo and video updates as they grow and prepare for Go-Home Day.

We will also coordinate travel and pickup arrangements to make the transition smooth and stress-free. We ask that all Go-Home plans be finalized by the time your puppy is 5 weeks old. This allows time to confirm flights, prepare travel kits, and ensure every detail is organized.

Families may choose to:

Pick up in person at our home in South Carolina or Utah
Fly in to bring your puppy home as carry-on (we can meet you at the GSP or SLC airport)
Use a trusted flight nanny to personally deliver your puppy to your nearest major airport

7. Final Payment (7 Weeks Old)

Your final payment is due when your puppy is 7 weeks old. This allows time for payments to fully clear, and for us to finalize Go-Home preparations. Families choosing to pay cash at pickup may do so on Go-Home Day at 8 weeks, as long as arrangements are confirmed in advance.

8. Go-Home Day (8 Weeks Old)

Puppies are ready for their forever homes at 8 weeks old. Each Posh Doodle puppy goes home with:

Health record
3-year genetic health guarantee
30 days of free health insurance through Trupanion
First vaccine & multiple dewormings
Familiar scent blanket from our home
Comfort toy and chew
Small bag of their current food

9. Staying Connected

Our families are part of the Posh Doodles community for life. We love updates, photos, and staying in touch as your puppy grows!
